Why don’t you have an online shop?

Demand for Woodcrest Kitchen products is high and therefore an online shop is not necessary for the business at present; local demand outstrips supply every year! However, if you live further afield, mail order enquiries are welcome; please use the contact page to enquire. Woodcrest Kitchen has previously dispatched orders as far afield as the Outer Hebrides and Cambridgeshire! Postage and packaging is priced at £3 for up to any three jars. If you have allergy requirements please state this on your enquiry and full ingredients lists can be provided upon request.

How much are Woodcrest Kitchen products?

All jars purchased directly are priced at £3.50 each, with the exception of those containing alcohol or special ingredients which are £4. Prices at Woodcrest Kitchen stockists may vary.

Do all stockists sell your full range of flavours?

No. Stockists choose which lines they wish to sell based upon their local customers. Please enquire with individual stockists with regard to their current range.

What is your food hygiene rating?

Woodcrest Kitchen is the proud owner of a Level 5 Food Hygiene Rating.

Why is there no nutritional information on Woodcrest Kitchen products?

Woodcrest Kitchen preserves are made in a home environment and production is currently on too small a scale to require nutritional labelling.

I have allergies, are Woodcrest Kitchen products safe?

Woodcrest Kitchen conforms to all labelling laws and a full list of ingredients are provided on all products. Allergens are listed in bold. It should be noted that nuts, peanuts, gluten and other allergens are used within the kitchen preparation environment.

Are Woodcrest Kitchen products suitable for vegetarians and vegans?

Yes. There are no animal products used in the production of Woodcrest Kitchen preserves. It should be noted however, that well-rotted animal manures are used in the growing of fruit and vegetables on the family allotment. Whilst the products themselves contain no animal products, the kitchen is not a wholly vegan preparation area.

How do I store Woodcrest Kitchen preserves and how long do they last?

Store unopened jars in cool, dry, dark conditions (a kitchen cupboard is fine). They are best consumed before the date on the front of the jar. Once opened, store in the fridge and consume within 4 weeks for the best taste.

I love my Woodcrest Kitchen product, why is it no longer available?

Woodcrest Kitchen preserves are made in very small batches, mainly using homegrown produce from the family allotment, or from ingredients which are foraged locally. Because of this, production may be limited by many external factors, such as the weather or garden pests! Recipes are made seasonally, based on the fruit and vegetables which are available. Woodcrest Kitchen also uses surplus produce from other local gardens; there may be occasions when a particular fruit or vegetable isn’t available one year or there is no excess for Woodcrest Kitchen to use.

Why does my Woodcrest Kitchen product look and taste slightly different from the previous time I purchased this flavour?

Woodcrest Kitchen preserves are made to the same recipe each time. However, because the batches are so small (each only yielding between 6 and 12 jars depending upon the flavour) there may be variations between products of the same recipe. Furthermore, the fruit and vegetables used are sometimes different varieties (for example, apples from 4 or 5 different trees are used) which can lead to visual and taste differences. Similar to when you cook a meal at home, the same meal can sometimes taste different even when the same recipe is used. Woodcrest Kitchen does not use the machinery and equipment used in factory food production to achieve exact consistency and standardisation between every batch. If consistency is important to you for a particular reason, you can check the batch code on the back of each jar and try to choose jars with the same number; however, there will only be between 6 and 12 jars which contain the same code!

Why don’t you offer different sized options?

Since Woodcrest Kitchen preserves are made by hand, in a home kitchen, the business does not benefit from the economies of scale available to large companies. For this reason, all products are currently the same size enabling glass jars and lids to be bought in bulk.

What size are the Woodcrest Kitchen jars?

Each jar is 290ml. This equates to a net weight of approximately 300-350g depending upon the flavour.
